How it started

Towards the end of October 2020, I had just celebrated my 26th birthday. It had been a pretty good year so far, except it wasn’t as vibrant as it used to be. Compared to my early 20s, I was more tired and lazy. Seeing my formerly thin body in the mirror, I realised that it was covered with quite a bit of flesh. My weight has increased by more than 40 pounds since I was 18. It never occurred to me to do anything about it despite saying so over 100 times.

My life was changed when I met someone who inspired me to take action. To lose weight and get fit again, either you need to eat less or exercise more. As a result, I began to think of an easy exercise that I could begin instantly, for free, and I actually liked. I had no doubt that running was my best option. I was a fast runner as a kid.

After a long day at work, I went home for dinner, rested for two hours, and finally went running for the first time. After I put on earphones and played a song on YouTube, I set out. I was surprised at how easy it was to run my first 5 km. Spring weather with a breeze was actually quite pleasant for me.
